I've just added the Once Upon A Time in China boxset to my wishlist.

Nothing is greater than the Once Upon A Time in China trilogy. It's Jet Li at his finest. Directed by Tsui Hark (at least some of them) it is some of the greatest action you will ever see on the big screen. And I'm not exagerrating there. It is the Chinese equivalent of the swashbuckler, which I think Hollywood is severely lacking in right now.

That is the great thing about Hong Kong movies right now, the severe lack of credibility, but fucking great entertainment. Hollywood takes itself to seriously. Ah forget it, I'll stop Hollywood bashing. But Hong Kong is really the place to be when it comes to action. Yuen Wo Ping, John Woo, Tsui Hark, Stephen Chow, Jet Li, Chow Yun-Fat. Yes, they've been absorbed by Hollywood, and Stephen Chow is the next to go. But they made they're greatest movies in Hong Kong. Though Chow might make it through the Hollywood machine, because he can't leave Hong Kong. Canada didn't even grant him a visa for the Toronto Film Festival. John Woo has been through the wringer, but I think paycheck might be my favorite Hollwyood film by him. And Mission Impossible 2. Yeah, I know my taste is crap, but I don't like kewl movies like Face Off. I'm a geek and proud, I say it loud.

Back to HK, the thing about HK movies, it's even difficult to tell the director's apart. Like last nite I watched Twin Warriors on GMA, and I thought it was Tsui Hark, it turned out to be Yuen Wo Ping himself directing. Asteeg.

My life will always be to taichi. Haha!
