Kung Fu Hustle is going to be showing in this country on January 8, 2004.

This is one of the few reasons why I am happy that I live in a Southeast Asian country. We get the films in our region first. And since we live in one of the most dynamic areas in the world in terms of movies, what a great place to be.

Kung Fu Hustle

I've been raving about Stephen Chow since we got to see God of Cookery in Brash. That screening of God of Cookery was probably my single best Brash experience ever. There weren't that many people in the room, watching a film that we had never heard of, by a director who was unknown. But by the end of the movie we were falling off our chairs and rolling on the floor with laughter (I jest). But that was a holy experience.

And then I saw Shaolin Soccer on cable again and again and again...

And I even saw King of Beggars which was amazingly amazing, in spite of it being a bit corny.

And so now we have Kung Fu Hustle, his first American funded but still done in China movie. The reviews have just been over the top, but I will not spill one single bean about the movie. I couldn't resist reading them, but hey, I don't think it will spoil my experience of the movie at all.

I am so psyched for this movie.

Throw out the Oscars for 2005. This movie is it!

I hyperbolize forever!

Even the fooking song can't ruin it. For the first time ever, I think it has been used properly in a kung fu movie.
