bloody marvelous.
kanina I was in such a good mood, that I couldn't even write.
now i am in such a gigil mood, that i can't even eat, till i get some of this out.
well, let's be honest about it. these last few weeks, i've been in a sort of a slump. i've been sleeping a bit too much and not getting anything done. well that changed today, for some reason. and i know it has everything to do with going to the gym. but hey, i could also think otherwise.
anyway, going back to this evening.
it started out pretty well, coz I was going to watch a movie with my two chums, alia and alexis, doing what we do best, watching movies. we got a free movie (thankfully) from greenbelt art film coz they are trying to start something called a coffee club wherein which lotsa critics and film buffs watch a movie and drink coffee afterwards. now this may not seem like fun for some people, but this for me is heaven on earth.
so we watched the movie, The Importance of Being Earnest, which turned out to be funnier than expected, and I actually liked Reese Witherspoon in this movie. But the after the movie was the kicker. Noel Vera was there. And Teddy Co. And Ed Cabagnot. And Glenn Cruz. Robert Quebral. Donna Lina and sis. Apa Ongpin. Amando Doronilla (who's column I admire). Marty Mills. Kelly Tiu. some other director, who's name escapes me right now. basically a who's who of the brain trust that determine our local film critic scene in Manila. And trust me, in front of this august cast, nobody knew film more than anybody. In short, I was with family. I didn't think I was going to have so much fun. And I didn't even talk much. hehehe.
anyway, I hope this thing will continue. but knowing film critics, they'll probably be too lazy to go to the next ones. who knows. i'll keep on going.
thanks pala to mark dy and company for organizing this great event.
and, oh yeah. to top it all of. we had free seattle's best coffee and lots of biscuits and cookies of the superior kind. fantastic. gawd, if only we could have this every tuesday. gawd, if only we could have this everyday.
anyway, obviously we had a grand time.
----------
I had a long talk with robert quebral after the movie. And i was such a fanboy. only then did I realize that I knew everything about his career. quebral is one of my favorite directors in this country. and the good news is, looks like he is going to be the next neophyte full feature director. Asteeg!
----------
Marty Mills is putting together a reality tv show, that reviews films at the same time. i guess it is a scene thing.
----------
Noel_Vera finally meets Ramon, Alia, Neva and Alexis.
----------
and, oh, this might be too early. but it looks like Viva is going to be on vanguard of the new wave of filmmaking. Developing...
