An update on what's been happening
We finally met up with Direk Tikoy last Saturday, Costello, Tioseco and I. And it was a very fruitful conversation. Direk told us we should start leaving the underground and becoming more legitimate. In short start making money. Which means more work for me who has been sulking in a corner for the last 6 years.
Not that it's been a bad six years, I have had free airconditioning, internet access, all the movies I could watch, food, etc. thanks to mom and dad :) but he was right, it's time for brash to be a real movement with institutional recognition, ticket collection and gasp! Paying of taxes!
I think this is a step up in the maturity and growth of brash young cinema or any independent film production outfit. Legitimacy is key.
What's even kewler is some of the officers of ccp, have decided to give me an extension of approval of what we are doing at brash, and even giving us a letter that says so. Thanks, guys!
It's nice to see the independent movement growing in the Philippines, such that when a little diplomacy and politics gets involved, it is a sign of growth. The point is to make all the politics and diplomacy work towards unity, and not all of us just going our own way. It was a fractured unity that destroyed the Katipunan in the beginning.
Onward with the revolution! :)
