now I get why I like this movie so much, it was like one giant newsreel, in fact Conran wanted to show it in serial form all strung together. but I betcha if we he could have it his way, totally, he would've screened it in serial form with each part being spread over days.

It was Metropolis promised to be, if it was one giant movie.

Interesting how this movie was related to the 5th Element, Dark City and the Rocketeer. All of which didn't make money, except maybe for Rocketeer and The Mummy.

Of course Raiders of the Lost Ark made the most money of all.

I guess it's because it is referring to a time, 1920's filmmaking, that never really appealed to general audiences, except for film wonks, who watched too many history of film documentary. heck, even Tim Burton is a fan with Dr. Caligari. I'm a fan of George Melies myself, and come to think of it, Baz made a lot of money with Moulin Rouge, though I think Topsy Turvy didn't make as much.

Godzilla was in black and white.

and sina QT were raving about the technicolor kung fu pics.

and there were people who liked Gone With The Wind.

I guess mine will be the 80's Arnold action movie. Though I see myself making more Spy Kids movies than mega-blockbusters.
